1.) Key­word Research – What key­word or key­word phrase do you want peo­ple to find you on. This is the tech­nique where they go to Google, Yahoo, Or MSN and type in a search phrase allow­ing them to find your web­site. This is crit­i­cal to your over­all suc­cess. You want to pick a key­word that is going to get you tar­geted traf­fic, and that will allow you to get to the top of the search engines in a rea­son­able amount of time. This is where hav­ing a good men­tor or coach comes in use­ful. While there are many free key­word tools out on the Inter­net that will assist you in ana­lyz­ing key­words, it is use­ful to go to a men­tor or coach to get their feed­back. Some will find a good key­word but it is not going to allow them to get that tar­geted traffic.

2.) Domain Name – Once you estab­lish your key­word, and then you need to get a domain name. The domain name is what peo­ple type into the URL bar to find your web­site. It is rec­om­mended to put your main key­words in the domain name. Put the key­word in the domain but do not make it sound ridicu­lous or go ridicu­lously long. 3.) Opti­miz­ing Your Site – This is going to be brief and will elab­o­rate on our next post, as there is so much infor­ma­tion float­ing around. What is true and what is not true. It was once said that plac­ing your key­words in mul­ti­ple times and high­light­ing or bold­ing them would give your page more cred­i­bil­ity. How­ever, while hav­ing your key­words and key­words placed strate­gi­cally on your site will help you to rank higher, there is a thin line between a few key­words and too many. Keep in mind while you are cre­at­ing your site, you are not cre­at­ing for the search engines as much as you should be cre­at­ing it for your tar­get audi­ence.
