Submit Website Links To A SEO Friendly Directory

Posted on 04. Jul, 2009 by admin in Web Directories

In terms of website marketing strategies and the use of a SEO friendly directory, these do have their uses. Many are free, but how many of them are useful? If you conduct a search will find a load of directories listed, all of which claim to be able to do the same thing. But as all men are not created equal, neither are online website directories. The most important factor in this case is whether or not the directly is actively and correctly managed.

Links are required to undergo an editorial review and be approved so there has to be an editor to do this. Some SEO friendly directories claim to be this, but are in actual fact just “link farms”. This is the main feature you have to look out for when you are thinking of submitting links, high quality directories are managed actively and regularly up-dated.

Always find out if the directory is actively managed and regularly up-dated. The editor effectively approves links and submits them to the directory. As long as the directory you use fits these criteria, even if they are not so actively managed, they can still prove to be useful.

While it is not possible to submit links to your site to every directory on a list as it would be very time consuming, there are directory submission services which will do this on your behalf. They make sure that your submission reaches the correct destination and also keep track of submissions. There is obviously a cost involved, but there are many benefits to making use of this type of service, and it is far more time effective. Anything that saves you time is worth valuable money.

Web and SEO friendly directories are able to help your website immensely. However the Internet is a very big place so things can be difficult to find if you are looking specifically for something. This is how directories can be of use. They are kind of like the old fashioned yellow pages! In effect they list websites under categories which are relevant, for instance if you were selling printed T-shirts you may like to list your site as follows: “Shopping – Printed Clothing – Printed T-shirts”, or a similar listing.

The question many of us might ask is “do people actually use these directories?” I mean Google or any other search engine should be able to do a search just fine! They are available to help people find exactly what they are looking for.

While this is true, it has to be born in mind that people are getting more used to making use of web directories, but not all searchers use them. However this kind of listing serves another purpose, it improves the chance of your site ranking higher in terms of search engine rankings which improves the chances of your site receiving targeted traffic.

If you need to gain valuable SEO Friendly Links, then you should make the SEO Friendly Directory part of your web promotion plan.
